For the past 16 years Alf has held the position of Deputy Director-General of Sustainable Development and Climate Change in South Africa’s national Department of Environmental Affairs, where he also served as the country’s Chief Negotiator in the environmental sector.  As lead negotiator for South Africa he has guided the country’s engagement in, and negotiation of, bilateral, regional and multi-lateral environmental agreements, including in the areas of sustainable development, climate change, biodiversity, desertification, marine, chemicals, waste as well as environmental finance and governance.  Alf also served as lead facilitator and technical support to the conference Presidents’ when South Africa hosted the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002 and hosted the seventeenth climate change Conference of the Parties (COP 17) in 2012.

Alf has a passion for teaching and liberating peoples full potential to be the best that they can be.
